A note on Channel 4’s sales website reveals the plan to bring GamesMaster to E4. It’s seeking a brand partner for the job. “GamesMaster will be a social first show, followed by an E4 TX and All 4 box set,” the pitch reveals. There’s a description of the format, too, which reveals this reboot will revolve around celebrities competing against each other until a winner is declared. Here’s the official blurb: “This year, five bold celebrities will embark on a gaming odyssey but only one can go on to become the GamesMaster champion and take home the Golden Joystick....

The Souls games are notorious for their high skill barrier of entry and punishing difficulty, but Miyazaki hopes that perception will change with Elden Ring. “I feel like our approach to these games, not just Elden Ring, is to design them to encourage the player to overcome adversity,” he said. “We don’t try to force difficulty or make things hard for the sake of it. So here’s the thing - pixel counts on the new content vary between 720p in some instances to 1080p in another (the original was 900p) but what really struck us was the sheer fidelity in the presentation. Character self-shadowing, the quality of the volumetric rendering - it’s very good indeed and worlds beyond the presentation of the original game. Just to be clear, we’re not for one minute suggesting that Nintendo has delivered a surprise reveal of Switch Pro/Super Switch/Switch Model S/insert name but we would prefer to see transparency on game video sources - and in fairness, that level of transparency is exactly what other platform holders are delivering now....

Speaking to investors last night, EA boss Andrew Wilson admitted that Battlefield 2042’s launch “did not meet expectations”. “Developing this game with our teams working from home for nearly two years ultimately proved to be challenging,” Wilson said by way of explanation. “Through our processes for testing and preparation, we believed the experience was ready to be put into our players’ hands. We launched with strong stability, however, as more players experienced the full game, it became clear that we [had] unanticipated performance issues that we would need to address....

Twitch streamer BushyGames has released a YouTube video explaining his build and methodology - and, of course, including the boss battles themselves. In a statement shared to its social media channels yesterday, Epic Games confirmed it was “stopping commerce with Russia” but stopped short of restricting access for Russians entirely in order to “keep all lines of dialogue open”. “Epic is stopping commerce with Russia in our games in response to its invasion of Ukraine,” the company said in its brief statement. “We’re not blocking access for the same reason other communication tools remain online: the free world should keep all lines of dialogue open....
