Heardle is a music game inspired by Wordle - where instead of guessing a word, you hear the opening of a song, with each failed guess extending the preview to help you solve the title and artist in question. If you fail to guess once you have heard the complete preview, then you’ll break your streak - which is why discovering today’s Heardle answer is so important for players, especially as some song intros are more elusive than others....

Cloudpunk, which released back in 2020, was an experience I enjoyed a lot after it received a number of much-needed post-launch nips and tucks, revelling in the chance to play out all my Blade Runner fantasies by careening around its stunningly designed, neon-drenched futuristic city of Nivalis in my trusty flying car. The biggest disappointment was that Nivalis proved to be rather lifeless at ground level, which is where Cloudpunk’s spin-off comes in, aiming to transform the city from a pretty backdrop into a rich, meaningful world of its own as you attempt to build a business up from scratch....

The video below is much better than last week’s Shun’ei gameplay, which was so packed with jump cuts it was hard to get a good idea of how the character works. The Meitenkun gameplay, however, gives us a decent look at his moveset and combos. As in King of Fighters 14, Meitenkun is a sleepy young fighter who always holds a pillow. He’s sort of like a drunken master archetype - except instead of being pissed, Meitenkun is just knackered....

Perry is discussing the relationship between Hitman’s Agent 47, voiced by David Bateson, and his handler Diana Burnwood, who she voices. But she could also be talking about the actors themselves. For both actors, auditioning for these roles was a serendipitous moment. Hollow Knight: Silksong has, of course, been a long time coming, with Team Cherry first announcing the game all the way back in February 2019. Even now, some three and a half years later, specifics around Silksong remain limited, but we do at least know it’ll offer a twist on its predecessor’s non-linear exploration, platforming, and combat thanks to a new protagonist, Hornet, with her own distinct abilities. Given how very excellent the original Hollow Knight was, that’s still more than enough to warrant excitement, and Switch, Xbox, and PC players have been able to rest easy knowing Silksong would - eventually, at least - be available on their system to play....

It was Sony itself that sparked speculation after a ResetEra user noticed that the banner topping PlayStation Studios’ website had been updated to include Sam Bridges from Kojima’s Death Stranding game. The banner also included a shot of Bluepoint’s Demon’s Soul remake, which was acquired by Sony last year. Despite the fervour, the banner has not been taken down, suggesting its change was neither premature nor accidental. Just a couple of days after the banner was updated, though, Kojima tweeted the very same image with no accompanying text, leading many to presume it was implicit confirmation that Sony had indeed acquired Kojima’s studio....

Sonic Origins was, to put it politely, a bit of a mess when it launched earlier this year, and was plagued by enough presentational and technical issues - as extensively documented by Digital Foundry’s John Linneman - that its developer publicly hit out at Sega, saying it was “very unhappy” at the state the game had been launched in. Since then, Sega has been working to fix some of Origins’ more egregious problems, and its latest patch - officially known as update 1....

The news was originally revealed back in the summer, though a release date was unknown. A short trailer revealing Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga and and series poster boy Kiryu Kazuma standing in Kamurocho was shown. This is the first official reveal of Like a Dragon 8, following the brief glimpse seen in July thanks to a video from inside Sega’s offices. The game will feature Ichiban and Kiryu as dual protagonists. Combat will use the RPG system introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, with both protagonists reportedly getting their own party....

Logitech’s Lightspeed connection is legendary for its speed and reliability, so it’s incredible to get it on a gaming headset for £35 - and having the ability to also connect to a phone, tablet or console via Bluetooth is nuts too. The PS5, PS4, PC and Switch (docked) are all options here, with Microsoft’s proprietary Xbox Wireless standing in the way of the G435’s dongle workign on Xbox. Another real advantage of the G435 though is how light it is - it weighs just 165 grams, which is astonishing given the amount of tech on board....

N64 classic Kalimari Desert is included, as is DS masterpiece Waluigi Pinball. Mushroom Gorge from Mario Kart Wii, Snow Land from Mario Kart Advance, plus Mario Circuit 3 from the SNES are also in. These are joined by New York Minute and Sydney Spring from smartphone spin-off Mario Kart Tour, plus the new Sky-High Sundae track - a future Mario Tour addition. 48 fresh tracks are being added to the game over the next 18 months, in six waves....

While Mario Kart 8 has semi-stylised artwork, cartoonish characters and exaggerated lighting, Nintendo took a slightly different approach with the game’s original race tracks. These feature plenty of texture detail and elaborate buildings, backdrops and interiors. Aiming for high framerates on the original Wii U hardware meant technical concessions, of course, like a heavy reliance on normal mapping to enhance modest polygon counts, but these tracks packed a lot of detail and visual splendour for the player to enjoy....
