Wordle owner The New York Times is partnering with Hasbro to release “Wordle: The Party Game” this October, priced $20 (around £17). The project has been one of Hasbro’s fastest ever launches, the company told CNN, with development, production and release set to be completed in less than a year. As with the online version of Wordle, players of the party game variant will have six guesses to find a five-letter word....

That news comes via an announcement on the official XCOM Twitter feed earlier today, with Firaxis confirming XCOM 2’s multiplayer and challenge modes will cease to function on the Steam version of the game as of 28th March this year. When that day comes, the developer will release an update permanently removing both features from the game. “The decision to retire these services isn’t something done lightly,” the developer explained in its announcement, “but it does allow us to refocus our resources....

Nagoshi announced his departure from Yakuza publisher Sega in October last year, when it was first revealed he would be joining NetEase. A new staff page for Nagoshi Studio shows half a dozen other members of his former Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have also quit Sega to join him, including Yakuza director and producer Daisuke Sato. In a press release today, NetEase said the team would enjoy “full authority to manage and create the kinds of games that they are passionate about, with NetEase Games’ support”....

1997 football classic Actua Soccer 2 is set to launch for Steam on 10th October, and take you back to the days when Alan Shearer wasn’t just stuck in the commentary booth. After that, Actua Tennis will then follow on to Steam on 12th October. Ace! Both games offer a range of “modern features” to enhance their original releases, such as the ability to save/load at any point, use “most” modern controllers, remap controls, and apply “image scaling and smoothing options”....

The build for this weekend’s technical preview is available to download via the Xbox Insider Hub now - but you don’t have to be a Halo Insider to get in on the action, 343 said.
