Collection Challenges involve you catching a list of specific Pokémon connected to the event currently running in Pokémon Go. For the Sinnoh Collection Challenge, you’ll be tasked with catching a number of Gen 4 Pokémon. There are a number of ways to hunt down the Pokémon you need for the Sinnoh Collection Challenge, including raids, completing Sinnoh Celebration field research tasks and hatching eggs. On this page: These Pokémon are:
Turtwig (in the wild, one-star raids and field research tasks) Chimchar (in the wild, one-star raids and field research tasks) Piplup (in the wild, one-star raids and field research tasks) Cranidos (in the wild, field research tasks and 5km eggs) Shieldon (in the wild, field research tasks and 5km eggs) Combee (in the wild) Buizel (in the wild, one-star raids and field research tasks) Shadow Stunky (from Go Rocket battles) Shadow Snover (from Go Rocket battles)
Completing the Sinnoh Collection Challenge will reward you with 3,000 Stardust, 15 Ultra Balls and a Magnetic Lure.
Look out for Team Rocket balloons during the Sinnoh Celebration event to find Shadow Stunky and Shadow Snover. If you’re looking for a Shadow Stunky, then you’ll want to find a Team Rocket Grunt who says, ‘Wherever there is light, there is also shadow.’ If, however, you’re in need of a Shadow Snover, you’ll want the Grunt to say, ‘You’re gonna be frozen in your tracks.’ Some of the Pokémon on the Sinnoh Collection Challenge can be found in one-star raids, which can be accessed remotely. These Pokémon are: Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup and Buizel. Both Cranidos and Shieldon can be found in 5km eggs throughout the Sinnoh Celebration event.
Incense will bring Pokémon to your location for an hour. If Incense isn’t attaching the Pokémon you need for the Sinnoh Collection Challenge, then it’s worth using a Lure Module on a Pokémon. All three special Lure Modules - Glacial, Magnetic and Mossy - will also attract some of the Pokémon you need. A number of Pokémon on the Sinnoh Collection Challenge list can be found by completing the Sinnoh Celebration field research tasks. You can find these tasks, and their rewards, listed below.
The Season of Mythical Wishes continues with the Winter Holiday event, which has brought Mega Glalie to Pokémon Go. Don’t forget to partake in the new Go Battle League season.
Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance of encountering Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos and Galarian Moltres.
It’s a good idea, however, to complete them during the event, because it will help you complete the Sinnoh Celebration Challenge.
Here are the field research tasks for the Sinnoh Celebration event:
Power up Pokémon 4 times reward - Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup encounter Win 2 raids reward - Shieldon or Cranidos encounter Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts reward - Buizel encounter
Thank you to SilphScience from reddit for the help with this information! Once you’ve completed the Collection Challenge by catching all of these, you’ll be rewarded with a number of items and progress for your Elite Collector medal. The Sinnoh Collection Challenge is running alongside the Sinnoh Celebration Event and will be available from Tuesday, 12th at 10am (local time) to Sunday, 17th January, ending at 8pm (local time). Collection Challenge can be found on the ‘Today View,’ which is accessed by pressing the field research button (the little binoculars) in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You may need to scroll to your left, depending on whether or not you’ve been looking at your current field or special research tasks. After accessing ‘Today View,’ you’ll find a list of all the Pokémon you need to catch to complete the Collection Challenge. Catching a Pokémon in the Collection Challenge rooster will cause it to be ticked off the list, helping you keep track of which ones you’ve caught and which you haven’t. Remember - you need to complete a Collection Challenge before its associated event ends and it vanishes forever. Have fun completing the Sinnoh Collection Challenge!
