The Welgun is among the Vanguard best weapons and can be built in a variety of ways, prioritizing high fire rate, accuracy, or a more well-rounded setup. In short, you should make it a point to unlock and level this weapon because it absolutely dominates. This page will cover how to unlock the Welgun as quickly as possible, the best Welgun loadout, and Welgun class recommendations to make it even better. On this page: The quickest way to do this is to boot up Vanguard and play the Free for All mode. You can finish a match in around five minutes so depending on load times, it should take you less than two hours to unlock it. If you don’t have Vanguard, you’ll need to play Plunder matches in Warzone to unlock the Welgun. Note that you must finish the match to earn credit - instead of quitting after you’ve earned 10 kills.
Muzzle: Recoil Booster (Unlocks at level 29) Barrel: 120mm Gawain Short (Unlocks at level 30) Optic: Slate Reflector (Unlocks at level 18) Stock: Removed Stock (Unlocks at level 54) Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop (Unlocks at level 68) Magazine: 9mm 64 Round Mags (Unlocks at level 23) Ammo Type: Incendiary (Unlocks at level 70) Rear Grip: Taped Grip (Unlocks at level 47) Proficiency: Frenzy (Unlocks at level 63) Kit: Quick (Unlocks at level 36)
Kicking things off with the muzzle, we recommend using the Recoil Booster, which increases your fire rate, making it more effective up close. For the barrel, equip the 120mm Gawain Short for yet another fire rate enhancement. It will penalize your range and accuracy, but you’ll be using a different attachment later on that will make up for this. With close to mid-range class setups, we almost always recommend the Slate Reflector optic and that rings true with this build. After that, we highly recommend using the Removed Stock. This will improve your movement speed, sprint-to-fire speed, and ADS speed - perfect for a close-range loadout. Follow that up with the m1941 Hand Stop underbarrel to counter out the effects of the 120mm Gawain Short, giving you improved recoil control and accuracy. For Warzone, it’s best to use the largest mag size possible if you’re playing Trios or Quads. In this case, the 9mm 64 Round Mags are great, giving you plenty of rounds and reload quickness. You can, of course, adjust depending on team size and game mode. The Incendiary ammunition type is the best for this particular setup, allowing you to deal additional flame damage over time. This could make or break a particular gunfight, especially up close. As for the rear grip, we highly suggest going with the Taped Grip. You’ll have improved aiming stability and weapon swap quickness when using it, countering some of the downsides of the other attachments. When it comes to the proficiency (or perk 1), you should use Frenzy, which grants you health regeneration after kills. If you’re an aggressive player, this could get you out of a bind. Finally, we recommend Quick for kit (perk 2) for an overall boost to sprint speed. This will come in handy when running and gunning. Warzone Season 5 is almost here! If you want to learn more about firepower from previously, we explain the best Welgun loadout, best Cooper Carbine loadout, best Gorenko Anti-Tank Rifle loadout, best STG44 loadout, best MP40 loadout, best Automaton loadout, best BAR loadout, best Combat Shotgun loadout, best Type 100 loadout, and best Kar98k loadouts.
Perk 1: Quick Fix (Unlocks at level 42) Perk 2: Ghost (Unlocks at level 24) Perk 3: Combat Scout (Unlocks at level 1) Secondary: M1 Bazooka (Unlocks at level 11) Lethal: Molotov Cocktail (Unlocks at level 10) Tactical: Stun Grenades (Unlocks at level 1)
For the Welgun, we recommend using Quick Fix, which immediately starts health regeneration after you get a kill. We also advise using Ghost for your second perk so you don’t show up during enemy UAVs or on Heartbeat Sensors. The floor loot is usually viable this season, so you don’t need to waste a perk slot on Overkill. For perk slot 3, it’s best to use Combat Scout so you can ping enemies when you deal damage to them, allowing you to easily shoot them through walls. The Molotov Cocktail is the best lethal equipment, as it deals splash damage over time and is a one-hit-kill upon direct impact. For tactical equipment, we advise using Stun Grenades so you can temporarily stop an enemy in their tracks to sweep in for an easy elimination.
